The Chaplain’s Festival Newsletter 2014

10th July  2014.

From the Chaplain…..

Dear members and Friends of Magdalen Chapel,

Greetings in our Festival Month!

The Patronal Festival of a Church, or a chapel for that matter, is a great event, an Annual Thanksgiving to Almighty God for Blessings received over the generations and in our day, and an opportunity to get-together to celebrate a community life under the Patronage of – in our case

St Mary Magdalen

Disciple of Jesus – Witness of the Resurrection – Patron of Pilgrims – Queen of Penitents –

Star of Hope for lepers and outcasts

She is also revered as “the patron saint of the contemplative life, converts, glove makers, hairstylists, penitent sinners, people ridiculed for their piety, perfumeries and perfumers, pharmacists, and women.” That is fairly all-embracing!
(from the website of St Mary Magdalen Parish Altamonte Springs Florida)

So, whether you are in Chapel week by week, or “with us in Spirit”, if you are “on the chapel list” or are a neighbour of the Chapel, we pray for you, as we do for any we know who are housebound or sick at home or in hospital. If you would like names entered on our prayer list, or if you would like a name added to our list of loved ones, benefactors and friends remembered on the Anniversary of their death each year, please let us know.

Details of our celebrations for the Festival next week are listed overleaf.  We look forward in hope to seeing all friends and neighbours, as ever,

With prayers and blessings,

Sincerely,                                                                                                                                                  David
